A high quality AHA experience movie made by processing your favorite original photos. Phase 34 is the rest of the photos from my trip along the "Tobishima Kaido" from Kure to Imabari in Hiroshima, which I visited again in May 2011, and Tomonoura.
江戸時代、朝鮮から来た使節が泊まった場所で、福禅寺の対潮楼という広い部屋から見る景色が、日本で一番美しいと感動的だったという感想を述べた。朝鮮通信使は、朝鮮王国が江戸幕府に派遣した外交使節で、進んだ朝鮮半島や大陸の文化を日本に紹介する役割も果たした。窓の外には仙酔島とまわりの海が見え、その上には「日東第一形勝」と書かれた額縁が飾ってありますが、窓枠がなくても充分に美しい景色だ。
He commented that the view from the large room called "Taichoro" at Fuzenji Temple, where the envoys from Korea stayed during the Edo period, was the most beautiful and impressive view in Japan. The Korean envoys were diplomatic missions sent by the Kingdom of Korea to the Edo shogunate, and also played a role in introducing advanced Korean and continental culture to Japan. Outside the window, one can see Sensui Island and the surrounding sea, and above it is a picture frame with the inscription "The best view of Japan," but the view is beautiful enough without the window frame.
とびしま海道の終点、岡村港からは大三島を経由して、自転車を乗せたまま今治までフェリーで行くことができる。途中に来島海峡大橋の下をくぐるので、また違ったアングルの景色を楽しめる。橋をくぐったあとでも、相当なスピードで流れる海流の上から、橋の全景が徐々に見えてきて、これはこれで、楽しい体験を楽しむことがでる。
From Okamura Port, the last stop on the Tobishima Kaido, you can take a ferry to Imabari via Omishima with your bicycle on board. On the way, you will pass under the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge, so you can enjoy a different angle of the scenery. Even after passing under the bridge, you will gradually be able to see the whole view of the bridge from above the current, which is flowing at a considerable speed, and this is an enjoyable experience.
鞆の浦一番有名なシンボルである、常夜灯。1859年に建てられた船の出入りを誘導してきた灯台で，高さは5.5m，海中の基礎の上から宝珠まで11mあり，現存する江戸時代の常夜灯としては最大級の大きさと言う。周りは変化する潮位に対応するため、雁木と呼ばれる階段状の石段で囲まれている。竿柱の南面に「金毘羅大権現」、北面に「当所祇園宮」の石額が掲げられている。この祇園宮とは、鞆の街の祇園さん、現在の沼名前神社（ぬまくなじんじゃ）のことで、大きな松明を持って街を練り歩く「お手火神事」が市の無形文化財になっている。海の安全を願う、鞆の街のやさしさが感じられるモニュメントだ。
The most famous symbol of Tomonoura is the Tomonoura Lighthouse, built in 1859 to guide ships in and out of Tomonoura. 5.5 m high and 11 m from the top of its underwater foundation to the bead, it is said to be the largest surviving Tomonoura Lighthouse of the Edo period. It is surrounded by stair-like stone steps, called ganki, to cope with the changing tidal levels. On the south face of the pole is a stone plaque reading "Konpira Daigongen" and on the north face is a stone plaque reading "Tosyo Gionnomiya". This Gionnomiya refers to the Gion-san of Tomonomachi, now Numauna Shrine, and the "Otebi Shinji," in which people parade through the streets with large torches, has become an intangible cultural asset of the city. It is a monument that shows the gentleness of the city of Tomo in wishing for the safety of the sea.
尾道から瀬戸田までは、高速フェリーが運航されている。以前乗った、シトラス号というお世辞にも美しいとは言えないが、黄色くてかわいい船が、なんととてもかっこよくリニューアルされていた。サイクルシップ・ラズリという名前で、トリコロールカラーのスタイリッシュなものになっていた。自転車の扱いも折りたたまずに綺麗に収納できるようにラックが備え付けられてあった。しかし、よく調べてみると、これは週末限定の運航で、なんとも残念。
A high-speed ferry runs from Onomichi to Setoda. The Citrus, a cute yellow boat that I used to ride on, has been renewed and looks very cool. It was called Cycle Ship Lazuli, and it was now a stylish tricolor one. It was equipped with racks to handle bicycles and store them neatly without folding them up. However, upon closer inspection, I found that this was a weekend-only operation, which is a shame.
来島海峡大橋は、今治から尾道方面に向かうと最初にちょっと大きな島を経由する。馬島と呼ばれる海峡の中の島だが、そこから北東を見ると大崎下島、大三島、大崎上島、が重なって、その先の奥に中国山地が見える。場所的には、竹原の奥、広島空港のある東広島の方になるが、この景色がなかなか圧巻だ。
The Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge passes through a rather large island at the beginning of its journey from Imabari to Onomichi. Looking northeast from there, Osaki-shimo-jima, Omishima, and Osaki-kamijima overlap, and the Chugoku Mountains can be seen in the distance. The view from the island, which is located in the Higashi-Hiroshima area, is quite breathtaking.
尾道市の生口島、瀬戸田にある耕三寺、ここは日本全国の有名どころのお寺のお堂や門を、図面まで手に入れて、オマージュを込めて精密に作ってある。中でも、日光東照宮の陽明門は、本物より綺麗なのではないか、と個人的に思っている。特にこの柱に作られたレリーフは、それは素晴らしい出来だ。思わず目を見張ってしまうぐらい、ひとつひとつ、見入ってしまう。
Kosanji Temple in Setoda, Ikuchishima Island, Onomichi City, Japan. This temple has even obtained drawings of the halls and gates of famous temples all over Japan, and has made them with precision and homage. Among them, I personally think that the Yomeimon Gate of Nikko Toshogu is more beautiful than the real thing. In particular, the reliefs on the pillars of the gate are of such a fine quality that one cannot help but gape at them. I couldn't help but gawk at them one by one.
すべてをイタリアのカッラーラから運んできて、作り上げた石のアート広場。広島生まれの環境彫刻家が、白い大理石と青い空で作り出したこの癒し空間は、瀬戸田の耕三寺の裏山にある。周りの海が借景となって、何とも言えない世界を作り出している。
A stone art square created by bringing everything from Carrara, Italy. This healing space created by a Hiroshima-born environmental sculptor with white marble and blue sky is located on the hill behind Kosanji Temple in Setoda. The surrounding sea serves as a borrowed landscape, creating an indescribable world.
大三島の多々羅道の駅から多々羅大橋に向かって登っていくと、ちょっとした小さな公園がある。ここには四阿があって、左側に大三島上浦地区、右側に生口島その先に高根島、奥に三原の今治造船の工場が見えている。風が通り抜けるお気に入りの場所だ。
Climbing up toward the Tatara Ohashi Bridge from Tatara Road Station on Omishima, you will find a small park. There is a small arbor here, with the Kamiura area of Omishima on the left, Ikuchijima on the right, Takanejima beyond that, and the Imabari Shipbuilding factory in Mihara in the back. It is my favorite place where the wind blows through.
来島海峡大橋は高さがあるので、かなり遠くまで見渡せる。左の糸山公園の岬の奥には、来島が見え、対岸右の小島との間の海峡には、5本の定期航路が通っていて、それを海峡の真ん中右あたりにある、二ツ岩灯標が交通整理をしている。その向こうには、大下島、岡村島が見えていて、そこから呉の安芸灘大橋まで、とびしま海道が伸びている。
The Kushima Kaikyo Bridge is so high that one can see for quite a distance. On the left, Kurushima can be seen behind the cape in Itoyama Park. Five regular shipping lanes run through the strait between Kurushima and Kojima on the right, and the Futatsuiwa Light Sign in the middle of the strait on the right directs the traffic. Beyond them, the islands of Oshita and Okamura can be seen, and the Tobishima Kaido extends from there to the Akinada Bridge in Kure.
今治港には、三本の定期航路があり、入港の際には、たくさんの赤いゲートが出迎えてくれる。すぐ後には海水を取り入れたお城、今治城が見え、天気がよければその奥には四国の最高峰、石鎚山も拝める。この石鎚山に降った雨は、吉野川となり四国を横断して、徳島から紀伊水道に注いでいる。
Imabari Port has three regular shipping lines, and many red gates greet you as you enter the port. The rain that falls on Mt. Ishizuchi in this is transformed into the Yoshino River, which flows across Shikoku from Tokushima to the Kii Channel.
