希に江ノ島海岸から富士を望める日がある。そんな日はさぞや気持ちがいい波乗りの日になるのだろうが、このあたりのサーファーの多くは、自宅からその富士を眺めながら、海まで自転車でやってくる。その自転車は、ボードをちょこんと横につめる特殊仕様。ここかしこにそんな自転車を乗り回すサーファーが、この地域のごく普通の景色になっている。
その富士山の麓には、自衛隊の演習場がある。射撃訓練をはじめ、実弾や実際の武器を使った訓練を日夜繰り広げている。一体誰のための、何のための訓練なのだろうか？「有事」を想定する前に、もっと他に考えをめぐらすことがあるのではないのだろうか？戦うことではなく、もっとそれ以前に戦いを回避するための訓練。この、ごく普通の日常の景色を守るために。

この蓮田が近年、野生の猪の被害に悩まされている。猪が、畔や根を掘り起こしてしまうらしい。近年この猪だけではなく鹿や熊、猿など、人間の生活エリアとの衝突で問題になっている。彼らにしてみれば、生きていかなければならないので、仕方がないのだが、人間としては、困った問題となって報道されている。しかし彼ら側の視点に立ってみるとどうだろう？｢また、野蛮な人間が、私たちの仲間を虐殺しました。」と報道されるのではないだろうか？大いに反省しなければならないのは、人間の方なのではないだろうか？

ここは久里浜と浜金谷を結ぶ東京湾フェリーの、千葉側の発着所。マザー牧場、ロープウェーや展望台などで、観光地としても有名な鋸山は、海岸から、いきなり300メートル以上駆け上る。この地形が東京湾を渡って来る湿った空気を、一気に冷やし、いきなり雲に変えてくれる構造になっているようだ。そう、鋸山は、雲の生まれる場所。こんな自然のドラマをナマで見ることができるのは、そうそうないだろう。
もくもくと、岬の先端からわき上がる雲を鋸南町側や富津側から、動画も撮ってみたが、なかなかその迫力は伝わらない。というか、技術不足なんだろう。ふだんから映像を撮っているひとがいかに高度な技を持っているのか、思い知らされる。

水郷潮来のあやめ祭、船外機をつけた船の他に、近年は、この昔ながらの櫓を漕いで遊覧する船が復活している。木でできた板を左右に動かすだけで船を進めるシステムは、とてもよく考えられていて、鼻歌を歌いながらの人力だけで、大きな推進力となる。科学的根拠を説明するには流体力学やら、面倒な理論が必要なのだろうけど、なによりもその姿は美しい。
翻って、科学的根拠を押し曲げてでも、安全と言い張って進めてきたシステムが原発だ。安全神話はいとも簡単に崩れ去り、デブリすら取り出せず、天文学的な廃炉費用を背負って、処理できない廃棄物や、汚染水は大量に放置されている。それでもまだ原発を続けようとしているのか？櫓を漕ぐ美しい姿とは、対極的にある事態にもかかわらず。

最近、電話による詐欺が横行している。特にお年寄りをターゲットにした、思い込みを逆に利用した詐欺だ。思い込みを犯罪に利用するなど、とんでもないことではあるが、悲しいかな人間はつい現実と混同してしまうのだ。どこかでふっと我に帰る時間があれば、気づくことも多いのだが、如何せん詐欺師たちは、その時間をも与えないでことを進行する。立ち止まって考えてみる、このことがいかに大事なことか思い知らされる今日このごろだ。
